Work experience at a Manchester advertising agency

Celina Klefas-Stennett started work experience in Delineo’s social media team yesterday. Here, she explains what she hopes to learn from her time in the company.

Yesterday was my first day of work experience at Manchester agency Delineo, so I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself, my background and my route into this particular advertising agency.

For the past six months, I’ve been busy writing my dissertation on the subject of international advertising; quite challenging taking given that I have another few university subjects to worry about too.  During this stressful time, I always focused on the idea of having my dissertation finally completed and being given the time to relax and do absolutely nothing.

But, the truth is that I’m not capable of doing nothing. So, having just finished my thesis, I decided it would be a good idea to do something with my newfound freedom. As of yesterday, I’ve decided to get some work experience at one of the top North West advertising agencies, Manchester’s very own Delineo.

If someone asked me a year ago what I would like to do after I graduate, I would have told them that I’d like to work on the client side. But, over last few months a lot has changed. I’ve re-discovered Manchester and learned to appreciate its creative side.

As a student, I was always told that working in an advertising agency gives you variety, and just the right amount of pressure to learn, grow and ultimately succeed. Having had some experience on the client side, I am looking forward to learning more about the day-to-day activities of a company like Delineo.

Even though my internship is going to revolve around social media and digital marketing, I am looking to gain as much knowledge about agency life as humanly possible.

This experience is particularly important in these incredibly competitive times. as more people graduating and looking to enter into the workforce. In all, I am looking forward to the upcoming weeks, sharing more details on my progress in an advertising agency and learning from the team here.
